Contribution per unit = selling price − variable cost. Break-even units = fixed costs ÷ contribution per unit, rounded up.
Boundary: The model assumes constant price, unit cost, and fixed costs. It excludes tax, capacity, mixed costs, timing, inventory, demand, and accounting policy.
